Thermodynamic efficiency measurement

Thermodynamic efficiency measurement

The hydraulic losses of a turbine or a pump cause heating of the water. The temperature rise is thus a proof of the hydraulic losses.

In more than 50 years, Pöyry has carried out more than 100 independent measurements - confirming the efficiency of the turbines

Our Competences

Our range of services covers the independent thermodynamic efficiency measurement of hydraulic machines

  • Design, planning
  • Measurement
  • Evaluation and documentation

In order to ensure a corresponding measuring accuracy, thermodynamic efficiency measurements are only useful from a minimum net height of 100 m. Since, in evaluating the measurement, the thermodynamic conditions must also be taken into account during the relaxation of the water, this method was called the "thermodynamic method“
